Accelerating Progress Through S&P Global’s AI Strategy

S&P Global is at the forefront of AI for the financial services industry, transforming data analysis and decision-making across industries. Since acquiring Kensho Technologies in 2018, we’ve been leveraging AI to enhance workflows and drive value for customers. Kensho is our hub for AI innovation, collaborating with divisions to build industry-leading solutions. Given S&P Global’s quality and breadth of data and AI expertise, we have the unique opportunity to be an indispensable partner to our customers as AI transforms workflows at scale.

In 2024, we made crucial investments in AI across the enterprise, such as building GenAI into our platforms, facilitating access to our data across the GenAI ecosystem, and empowering our people with AI tools. We are also developing AI agents that leverage our data and expertise to streamline workflows. We want to build a future where our people and customers work with trusted, function-specific AI agents that add value and fuel efficiency.

GenAI experiences

In 2024, we made significant progress developing the core infrastructure and agentic building blocks that will add value for customers across our offerings.

  • On S&P Capital IQ Pro, we deployed our first data retrieval agents that interact with complex financial data, powering capabilities like Document Intelligence and ChatIQ. We will continue to develop and scale these capabilities to enable customers and internal platforms to build sophisticated agentic workflows directly on our data and platforms.
  • We launched S&P Global Marketplace Search, enabling users to quickly ask questions across our broad, rich datasets to understand which offering is right for their needs and to find answers from our deep technical information, streamlining exploration of our offerings.
  • Commodity Insights’ Platts Connect platform now features ChatAI, a GenAI-powered chatbot that leverages large language models (LLMs) to enhance discoverability and quickly generate responses with links to the underlying sources.

AI-ready data solutions and agents

As our customers integrate GenAI into their workflows, we are providing flexibility and choice when it comes to how they access and leverage our trusted data. In 2024, we developed solutions and agents to prepare, enrich, and optimize our data for GenAI. Our vision is to enable seamless access via feeds, S&P Global’s platforms, third-party platforms, and GenAI applications.

A few key solutions launched in 2024:

  • Kensho LLM-ready API integrates seamlessly with LLMs like OpenAI’s GPT, Google’s Gemini, and Anthropic’s Claude, allowing customers to query S&P Global’s tabular datasets via any GenAI workflow or application.
  • Commodity Insights AI-ready data solution (now integrated into Microsoft 365 Copilot, providing users with direct access to Copilot users).
  • Kensho AI-ready textual data API (beta) enables customers to unlock insights from a range of S&P Global textual datasets, such as earnings call transcripts and filings, by integrating with AI applications.

Workforce enablement and productivity

We are committed to helping our people adopt AI and elevate their work to drive value for our customers. In 2024, we launched robust internal GenAI platforms, tools, and learning resources.

  • Kensho Spark Assist: Our primary internal GenAI platform, used by more than 25,000 across the enterprise. It helps enhance work by streamlining workflows, reducing manual labor, and enabling sharing of best practices.
  • Enterprise-wise AI learning initiative with Accenture: In 2024, we collaborated with Accenture on a comprehensive GenAI learning program for all S&P Global employees, with tracks for specific personas.
  • Spark Air: An internal GenAI platform, specific to our Ratings division.
